Black Powder Toys (also known as BPT) is a 5-piece modern rock band that formed in North Vancouver, BC, Canada in 2006. Founded by vocalist Clayton Blancard and keyboardist Pete Ryznar, the band additionally consists of Tom Lawreszuk on guitar, Matt Pavan on percussion and Don Binns (Sons of Freedom, Econoline Crush, Lee Aaron) on bass. Their independent debut album, Made in China, has just been released.
Made in China was the last album ever recorded at Bakerstreet studios. It is a tribute to producer extraordinaire Paul Baker who lost his battle to cancer in Sept 2010. Featured guest musicians include Paul Hyde (Payolas) Megan Metcalfe, Dave Steele (Motley Crue, the Cult), and Don Binns (Econoline Crush, Sons of Freedom)

BPT performed six 2010 Winter Olympic shows, including the Plaza of Nations and the Olympic Torch Relay. They played alongside Colin James, the Odds, Chilliwack, Shari Ulrich, at the Music Family Benefit Concert in Vancouver. They also performed at the Harvest Project’s Hand-up concert at the Centennial Theatre earlier this year and most recently shared the stage with the popular Polish rock band, Lombard, at a sold out Terry Fox Theatre in Coquitlam.
Black Powder Toys debut CD continues to win the band new fans with its edgy melodies and catchy choruses. Push Pull, their first single, and Stones Throw are currently in rotation on Radio 3 in Warsaw. The band kicks off their tour of Poland playing the 20th Anniversary Grand Finale Concert for The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity on January 8, 2012 – Poland’s largest charity event.
